History

Willow has had a history of laminitis for many years, and he was referred to the Epona Trust by a vet who had been asked to put him down.

When Willow arrived in January 2011, the first task was for our Farrier to examine at his feet. Unfortunately Willow had received very poor shoeing in the past, which needed to be resolved immediately to help his recovery.

Willow's shoes were removed by our Farrier, and he was left to settle on his feet for a few days.

Willow began work in our round pen to strengthen the ligaments in his legs, which helped to rebalance his feet. With very careful management of his diet and feet, he should be able to carry out a normal working life.

Latest Update

Willow is now feeling much better and has improved so much he is beginning to work again. He is a cheeky chap and has begun having lessons and should continue to get fitter and stronger.
